The Broken Situation...

Today on July 19 the devil struck his first blow. Whenever something good is trying to be done and it is bound to succeed, the devil will always try to ruin and disrupt the plan that God has lead us to follow.  You see today we had engine trouble. Because of this engine trouble we had to stop on the side of the road. But we serve a higher power. God saw it so that a Ford station was three miles down the road at the next exit. Not only that but that an affordable hotel was about a mile and a half down the road. Now we are down at the hotel, things may not go as planned, but I know that in the end the Lord's will WILL be done.

Layover in Tuscaloosa

Sis. Dixon (SD): When it rains, it pours! We had and enjoyable time the first day/evening of the trip. We arrived in Huntsville, Alabama and was greeted at the door by Lisa Crockett and Layla. We had an opportunity to eat a home cooked meal. Delicious! However, I did not get to sleep as long as I would have liked, but...that's ok. :) The young men even showcased their talents the next morning by cooking breakfast. I was impressed! Upon leaving, we stopped off at Oakwood College to give the kids a tour of the campus and to find out what the school had to offer. AWWW! It brought back memories of when I attended here when I was only a little older than these young people. I was able to see my old room, where I hung out, etc. And, of course, it did not help to see one of the students there that I remembered as a 7 or 8 year old kid, now turned sophomore in college. That just dated me, boy I feel old! But then it also felt good when someone mistook me for a student. :) Well, after our tour, we were back on the road headed towards New Orleans. All was going well, we had just stopped to eat then whammo! --the church van began to overheat. Of course, that put a damper on things! Now, we have to stay over in a hotel. But suprisingly, the kids are handling this like troopers. All I can say is Satan is busy! He knows that we are about to do the Lord's business and he is pulling out his arsenal to try our faith. But did we really expect everything to flow smoothly without Satan attempting to foil the Lord's work? I think the hardest part was having to call parents and try to explain things to them. But, most of the parents took the news in stride. After meeting in a prayer circle, we all feel much better! Marlene and I even had some therapy by shopping at Wally World (Walmart). :) Shopping always puts a smile on your face. Tomorrow WILL be a better day!
